Manchester City beat West Ham United

| | Apr 20, 2015, at 04:08 am
Manchester, Apr 19 (IBNS) Manchester City kept up the pressure on their cross-town rivals Manchester United as they defeated West Ham United 2-0 here at the Etihad stadium on Sunday.

James Collins scored an own-goal and Sergio Aguero scored his 20th league goal of the season to secure a routine win and the only surprise was that City failed to add to their lead after the Argentine's 36th-minute effort.

Sergio Aguero is now the top scorer in the Barclays Premier league this season.

The win came as a relief after a 4-2 loss to Manchester United last week.

They have now reduced the gap to just one point between them and their last week's rivals who are placed at 3rd position in the table at present.

David Silva sustained an injury in the second half and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

West Ham, who climbed as high as fourth in the table in December, remained 10th.
