Kolkata, Feb 17 (IBNS): The first derby of the season ended in a draw with the two traditional rivals - East Bengal and Mohun Bagan settling for 1-1 in an I-League encounter here on Tuesday.

It was Mohun Bagan supporters who cheered aloud at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan as their club scored the first goal int he 24th minute.

Cameroonian striker Pierra Boya scored the goal to take Bagan to a 1-0 lead.

East Bengal soon scored the equaliser with  Ranty Martins netting one in the 31st minute.

The goal made the scoreline 1-1 as both the sides tried hard to clinch the match.

Disappointing fans, neither of the Kolkata's football giants were able to score another goal as the second half of the clash only saw several hits and misses.

At the end of the clash, East Bengal had nine points in its bag to stand  in the fourth position while Bagan was in the fifth place with eight points.
