Bangalore, Sept 13 (IBNS): In a crunch game, senior Indian pair of Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna defeated Serbia's Ilija Bozoljac and Nenad Zimonjic in the doubles rubber to keep the team's hope alive in the Davis Cup by BPN Paribas World Group play-off at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association courts here on Saturday.

Down by two sets and by a break in the third, the senior stars shined from that point when the country really needed them to perform.

Paes and Bopanna defeated their opponents  1-6, 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-3, 8-6.

The match lasted for two hours and 58 minutes.

On the first day Serbians won both the singles as they are ahead of India by 2-1.

Bopanna tweeted: "With the boys, keeping Team India alive for tom. Let's go guys. @SomdevD @leander #Yuki. @DavisCup."
