Priyanka Chopra-backed Anuja secures Live Action Short Film nomination at 97th Oscars

The critically acclaimed short film Anuja, a project backed by global star Priyanka Chopra, has secured a Best Live Action Short Film nomination at the 97th Academy Awards.

Anuja, directed by Adam J. Graves, narrates a heartwarming and powerful story of nine-year-old Anuja, played by Sajda Pathan, who works in a garment factory in Delhi with her sister Palak, portrayed by Ananya Shanbhag.

When faced with a life-altering decision, Anuja finds herself carrying the weight of her family's future on her young shoulders.

The film has been jointly backed by Suchitra Mattai, Mindy Kaling, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Krushan Naik, Aaron Kopp, Devananda Graves, Michael Graves, Ksheetij Saini, and Alexandra Blaney.

Priyanka Chopra and Anita Bhatia are the executive producers of the film.

Anuja will soon premiere on Netflix.

Sharing the news, Mindy Kaling posted on Instagram: “Huge congrats to the brilliant filmmakers @adam_j_graves @suchitramattai and the entire creative team. And of course the incredible young actresses Sajda Pathan and @ananya_shanbhag_It has been such an honor to produce this short film and learn from the artists involved.
