Chennai/IBNS: Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth is likely to join the box office race with Allu Arjun's upcoming mega release Pushpa 2: The Rule, several media reports have claimed.

Rajinikanth's Vetaiyaan may release along with Pushpa 2, which is set for August 15 release.

Prior to this development, Pushpa 2 already had competitors in the form of Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film The Greatest of All Time and  Ajay Devgn's Singham Again.

Allu Arjun is already anticipated to sweep the Telugu and Hindi markets with Pushpa 2 keeping up with the kind of numbers of its earlier installment Pusha: The Rise registered in the box office.

With the Tamil films coming into play, Pushpa 2's box office numbers might take a beating.
