Mumbai: Actor Simaran Kaur earned much fame for being the voice behind the popular cartoon character Nobita and as Niyati in her on-going show Aggar Tum Na Hote.

To every person his or her name is very important.

“The name Simaran is quite common. And there are other TV actors and models having the same name, who have worked in this entertainment industry since the time I was a kid. Google has mixed up my work profile, pictures with other Simrans. So, it gets difficult for people to recognise me. Also, I am 24 and single, while most of them are older and are married. Sometimes people get misguided when they see my picture with the wrong age and information,” she adds.

Quoting William Shakespeare, she says, “Shakespeare is great and probably rightly said ‘What’s in a name’ but times have changed and in my opinion it is everything. I came to Mumbai to make a name for myself. I wish one day the whole world acknowledges me by my name and who I am, and not confuse me with anyone else.”

The actor also talks about the name Simaran becoming sensational after Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’s success and how it changed the life of many who had the same name off screen.

“My friends and colleagues crack jokes taking DDLJ references all the time. DDLJ is my favourite movie, my mom named me after watching that film. She really liked Kajol’s character. Therefore, when people tell me ‘Jaa, Simaran, jaa, jeele apni zindagi’ I reply ‘wohi toh kar rahi hoon’, I am living my life to the fullest. I live life one day at a time and every girl must follow her heart,” she ends with a smile.
