Shiraz holds Haleem Festival
Shiraz Golden Restaurant in Kolkata is holding a Haleem Festival during the ongoing Ramadan observance. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Partner, Shiraz Golden Restaurant, invited media for a taste of the food on Saturday (June 20, 2015) at 135 Park Street at the Mullickbazar crossing of the food outlet. Haleem is a stew made of wheat, barley, lentils and meat and it is as popular in the Middle East and Central Asia as in the Indian Subcontinent. The word Haleem gets its name from Persian for 'patience' since it takes a long time to prepare it. Images by Avishek Mitra/IBNS
