Youth held for raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans at Kamakhya temple

Guwahati, Feb 19 (IBNS): A youth was held by the police for raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans at Kamakhya temple in Assam, officials said.

The Assam police also arrested five persons for pro-Pakistani posts on social media.

According to the reports, a group of visitors had caught the youth identified as Manoj Sinha after he raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans at the Kamakhya temple and charged him for promoting enmity and hurting sentiments of the people and later the youth was handed over to police.

“We were informed that, locals had caught a youth after he raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans at the Kamakhya temple. Immediately, a police team had reached and detained the youth. Locals alleged that, the youth had raised such type of derogatory comment. Police investigation is going on,” a police officer said.

Meanwhile, Assam police have so far arrested at least five persons for their alleged pro-Pakistani posts on social media.

According to the reports, police arrested a student of Ledo college in Tinsukia district for his pro-Pakistani post on social media.

Similarly, police arrested three other persons named Mohammad Hafizur Rehman alias Sunny, Khairul Alam, Riyazul Haq and Saikul Alam from Tinsukia and Darrang district.

Reacting over the anti-national remarks raised by some youths of the state, Assam Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said the anti-nationals will not be excused.

“The government is monitoring it and the anti-nationals will not be excused. The government is paying attention that Assam not to become second Kashmir at any cost. Suddenly, a number of Rohingya muslim people have been spotted in the state recently and some Rohingyas have been detected in many places. The state government has directed the Assam police to take necessary action regarding this matter. A fundamentalist group of Assam is trying to give safe shelter to Rohingyas in Assam,” the Assam minister said.

It is to be mentioned that, a lady college professor in Guwahati was arrested by police over her alleged derogatory remarks against the Indian armed forces following the Pulwama terror attack.
