Youth dies in celebratory firing in Uttar Pradesh's Banda

A 20-year-old youth was killed in celebratory firing during a family function in Mataundh area of Banda district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Sunday.

Circle Officer (City) Rajiv Pratap Singh said that the incident took place in Banshipurwa village where during the family function Saurabh Singh fired with an illicit weapon during celebration.

"One Pramod Pal sustained a bullet injury in his chest," he said.

He said that Pramod was taken to the district hospital in a serious condition where he died late on Saturday night.

"Saurabh was immediately arrested with the weapon. The body has been sent for postmortem examination," he said.
