Kolkata, June 22 (IBNS) CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Monday ruled out the possibility of his party joining hands with the Congress, saying the party will not go against its own decision of forming alliance or front with the Congress.

He however said that the CPI(M)will continue to have issue-based political understandings with the Congress in the Parliament.

Yechury was replying to a question on part leader Gautam Deb's recent comments that hinted at the possibility of exploring ways to forge ties with Congress to fight Wes Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party which is in power at the centre.c

Deb, who is a CPI(M) central committee member, is of the view that Left forces alone will not be able to resist Mamata Banerjee's party. He submitted a written  explanation of what he said to the party's West Bengal state committee.

Yechury, who is attending the two-day state committee meeting at the party's state headquarters said  he was satisfied that Deb made no direct reference about the Congress and had not gone against the resolution of the party congress.
