New Delhi, Mar 24 (IBNS): On World TB Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that India will be Tuberculosis (TB) free by 2025.

Modi said that his government is working towards making India a TB free society, which will benefit the poor.

In a tweet, he wrote: "Today, on World TB Day we reaffirm our commitment towards ensuring a TB-free society. This would greatly benefit the poor.
Correct and complete treatment is the key to winning the battle against TB. I also salute the people and organisations strengthening the TB-free movement."

He said India would be TB free country five years ahead of the global target of 2030.

"Government of India and various State Governments are working hard to make India TB-free by 2025, 5 years before the global target of 2030.
Centre’s efforts such as TB Free India campaign and Ayushman Bharat are improving health standards and providing assistance to TB patients," Modi tweeted.
