Will meet Narendra Modi, Imran Khan soon: Donald Trump
Washington, Sept 17 (IBNS): US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he will be meeting Indian PM Narendra Modi and Pakistan's PM Imran Khan soon.
Trump said a 'lot of progress' has been made in the relationship between India and Pakistan, the two neighbouring nations whose bonds touched new low following the Pulwama attack.
" I’ll see Prime Minister Modi and I will — we’ll be meeting with India and Pakistan. And I think a lot of progress has been made there. A lot of progress," he said.
In a major move to boost India-US ties, President Donald Trump will attend Indian PM Narendra Modi's diaspora outreach event in Houston on Sunday, the White House confirmed.
Speaking on the event, the White House said in a statement: "On Sunday, September 22, 2019, President Donald J. Trump will travel to Houston, Texas, and Wapakoneta, Ohio, to underscore the important partnerships between the United States and India, and Australia."
"In Houston, President Trump will participate in an event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. The event, 'Howdy, Modi! Shared Dreams, Bright Futures,' is expected to draw tens of thousands of people. It will be a great opportunity to emphasize the strong ties between the people of the United States and India, to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the world’s oldest and largest democracies, and to discuss ways to deepen their energy and trade relationship," read the statement.
Trump did not say when he will meet Khan.
