West Bengal: TMC youth leaders demand Suvendu Adhikari's arrest in Saradha scam case

Kolkata/IBNS: The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC)'s youth wing Monday held a sit-in protest here demanding the arrest of Leader of Opposition and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Suvendu Adhikari by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam case.

The sit-in protest, which was anchored by youth leader Trinankur Bhattacharya, was held near the CBI office in the Salt Lake area.

The protest was triggered after the Saradha scam main accused Sudipto Sen said in his prisoner's claim that he was blackmailed by Adhikari, a former TMC man.

Sen, who was the owner of Saradha, has reportedly claimed he had given money to the now BJP leader, who was once a trusted lieutenant of West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.

Demanding Adhikari's arrest, TMC youth wing president Saayoni Ghosh said, "The CBI must detain, interrogate and take action against Suvendu Adhikari. If it does not, then we will assume that the CBI is controlled by the BJP, Narendra Modi (Prime Minister) and Amit Shah (Union Home Minister).

"We will then conclude that CBI doesn't deliver justice and it will lose our faith," Ghosh, who shared the dias with BJP-turned TMC MLA Babul Supriyo, added.

Apart from Kolkata, the ruling party held protests in Haldia and Adhikari's turf Contai.
