West Bengal: 5 killed, 6 in hospital after consuming hooch in South 24 Parganas

Kolkata, Jan 5 (IBNS): Five people were killed and at least six others fell ill after having hooch at Nodakhali village in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Thursday, reports said.

According to reports, after consuming the locally made hooch on Wednesday night, at least 11 men complained of illness and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Five of them died on Thursday morning and the remaining six are being treated in serious conditions.

Police have started investigation into the case, while none has been arrested in connection with the hooch tragedy.

Earlier on Tuesday, six people were killed and several others fell ill after consuming toxic alcohol at Ramgopalpur area under Galsi Police Station in Burdwan district of West Bengal.
