West Bengal: 11 killed in road mishaps

Kolkata, Feb 10 (IBNS): Two road accidents at different locations in West Bengal killed at least 11 people and left few others injured on Wednesday, according to reports.

A motor-van, full of passengers, was hit by a truck on NH 34 at Aihoran under Suti Police Station area in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on Wednesday morning. The motor-van lost its control and hit another lorry which was coming from opposite direction.

Seven passengers, including few women and a child, who were traveling in the motor-van, were killed when the van came in between two trucks. Few other passengers were injured in the accident and they are being treated in Jangipur Sub Divisional Hospital in serious condition.

Police have seized two trucks, while drivers and helpers of those trucks are absconding.

Another road mishap was reported from West Bengal's Purulia district where a Maruti Omni car crashed head-on with a public bus near Boro Police Station on Wednesday.

Two passengers of the Maruti Omni died on spot and rest two were declared dead after they were taken to a nearby health centre.

Few passengers of the bus were also injured in the accident and all were discharged after first aid.

The driver of the bus escaped from the spot after the incident.
