WB police outpost attack: Main accused surrenders
Kolkata, Apr 14 (IBNS): The kin of Subhash Chandra Bose held a rally in Kolkata on Tuesday to celebrate the 'Mairang Day' and to pressurise both the state and the central government to declassify all files related to Netaji.
According to reports, the TMC leader, who is also a candidate for upcoming Champdani municipality election, Bikram Gupta surrendered at Bhadreswar Police Station on Monday morning.
Police arrested him and produced him to Chandannagar sub-divisional court. As police did not demand for his police custody, the judge sent him to the jail custody for seven days.
On Apr 5, police seized two motorcycles at Champdani area and Bikram Gupta and his followers went to Champdani police outpost to release the bikes. When police officers refused his proposal, he and his team allegedly attacked the police outpost. Five policemen injured and some police vehicles damaged in the incident.
After the attack, police detained over 15 people and arrested 13 of them. But police could not arrest the main accused.
Before few days, the State Election Commission directed the superintendent of police of Hoogly district to arrest Bikram Gupta immediately.
