WB: CPI-M state chief Surya Kanta Mishra allegedly assaulted by TMC activists

Kolkata, Nov 17 (IBNS): West Bengal state secretary of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Surya Kanta Mishra and party leader Rabin Deb were allegedly manhandled by few Trinamool Congress (TMC) activists in Haldia city in West Bengal's East Medinipur district on Thursday evening, reports said.

According to reports, when CPI-M party leader-activists took part in an election rally, a large number of TMC activists suddenly attacked them at Ranichak area.

The party leaders said that the rally was organized in support of Left Front candidate Mandira Panda for upcoming by-election in Tamluk Lok Sabha constituency.

Following the incident, Surya Kanta Mishra tweeted: "Attacks can not break our resolve of fighting back. Our voices can not be stifled. We will go on to raise People's issues from the streets."

The party condemned the alleged attack by state's ruling party and decided to complaint against it before the Election Commission of India (ECI).

None has been arrested in connection with the case so far, while the ruling party leaders denied their involvement in the incident.
