WB: BSF seize fake notes from north 24 Parganas

New Delhi, Aug 18 (IBNS): The BSF on Monday said it seized Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of face value 2 lacs in West Bengal's North 24 Pargana district on Monday.

"At about 0530 hrs specific information received by BSF about a FICN consignment to be smuggled from Bangladesh to village Mustafapur  under PS Bagdah District  North  24 PGN," the BSF said in a statement.

"On receiving the information at about 0600 hrs, troops of BOP Mustafapur under 26 Bn BSF launched a special operation in general area of village Mustafapur. The Spl party noticed a lady carrying a packet and approaching from Bangladesh towards the Indo Bangladesh Border Road. Immediately Spl party challenged her to stop. On being challenged, the lady threw the packet and ran away towards Bangladesh," it said.

"Spl party rushed to the spot and after thorough search of the area recovered one packet wrapped by paper with plastic tap. On opening the packet, 02 bundles of Fake Indian Currency of face value Rs 2,00,000/- was recovered. Seized FICN has been handed over to PS Bagdah and an FIR has also been lodged with PS Bagdah , district North 24 Pargana for further legal action," the BSF said.

The BSF South Bengal Frontier has seized FICN of more than Rs.1,77,20,000 and apprehended 17 FICN racketeers in the year 2015.
