Wanted rhino poacher arrested in Assam, arms seized

Guwahati, Jan 31 (IBNS): Assam police have arrested a most-wanted rhino poacher and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Assam’s Biswanath district.

“Based on intelligence inputs, a police team and forest department officials had jointly launched operation at Bhojmari area and arrested the rhino poacher. The team had seized two 303 rifles, 18 rounds live ammunition and two magazines in possession from him,” Biswanath district police superintendent Rakesh Roshan said.

The joint squad arrested the rhino poacher, identified as Abdul Jajil, and seized two 303 rifles, two magazines and 18 rounds live ammunition from him.

Abdul Jajil is involved in various rhino poaching incidents in Kazaringa National Park.

Police are interrogating Jajil now.
