Vikram Misri, ex-envoy to China, becomes new deputy National Security Advisor

New Delhi/IBNS: India's former ambassador to China, Vikram Misri, has been appointed as the deputy National Security Advisor in the National Security Council Secretariat.

He has served as India's envoy to China till Dec 11. Pradeep Kumar Rawat has taken over the charge from him.

Vikram Misri, a diplomat from the 1989 batch of the Indian Foreign Service, has served as India's Ambassador to Myanmar and Spain.

In 2019, he was appointed as the Ambassador to Beijing and served during a crucial period of Indo-China ties marred with clashes.

He was a part of several talks held between India and China after the troops of both countries violently clashed in the Galwan Valley in June 2020.
