New Delhi, Aug 5 (IBNS): BJP leader Vijay Rupani has been selected as the next chief Minister of Gujarat.

Rupani is the Gajarat BJP president

He will replace Anandiben Patel.

Just a year before the state will elect a new Assembly, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on Monday resigned from her post earlier this week.

She was serving the state since Prime Minister Narendra Modi resigned as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2014.

Modi became the PM of the country following his BJP's landslide  victory in the Lok Sabha polls in 2014. The Congress government at the Centre was completely uprooted from power after ruled the nation for 10 years.

Patel will turn 75 in November this year.

In a Facebook post, the Chief Minister said: "I have asked to be relieved of the duty two months before that."
