Veteran music director Raam-Laxman dies
Nagpur/UNI: Renowned music director Vijay Patil better known as Raam-Laxman, passed away at his son’s residence in Nagpur after brief illness, in the wee hours of Saturday, Patil's son told UNI.
The 78-year-old Patil had taken second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, Covishield, six days ago. There was no problem at that time. But when he came home he developed weakness.
His parameters were dropping. Doctors were attending him at home. He passed away at around 2 am on Saturday.
"He had a cardiac arrest," Amar said.
Vijay Patil, who worked as Laxman , is survived by wife Shobha Patil, son Amar, two daughters and a large number of family members and friends.
Raam was the pseudonym of Patil's musical partner Surendra Hendre.
Raam-Laxman made debut in Hindi film industry with Rajashree Films ‘Agent Vinod’.
The duo composed music for almost all the films of Dada Kondke, who had named them as Raam-Laxman.
Even after death of Surendra Hendre, the partner in the pair Raam-Laxman, in 1976, he continued music composing without deleting name of Raam.
Raam-Laxman was an Indian composer, pianist, musician and accordionist.
Raam- Laxman was known for his work with Rajshri Productions of Hindi films. He composed music for blockbuster films like "Maine Pyar Kiya" (1989), "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" (1994), "Hum Saath Saath Hain" (1999).
Raam-Laxman has worked in almost 75 films in Hindi, Marathi and Bhojpuri.
He started his career with Kadar Orchestra. Later he moved to Mumbai.
