A man was hit with a grinding stone and killed by his son-in-law allegedly over petty issues in Maurawan area of Unnao district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Sunday.

Circle Officer (CO) Purwa Deepak Singh said that the incident took place in Chhoti Khera village late on Saturday night where Binda Prasad (45) was killed by his son-in-law Sushil.

"Binda's daughter Kajal along with her husband Sushil, a resident of Lakhimpur district, had come to meet her parents," he said.

He said that on Saturday night Kajal and Sushil had a dispute over some issue during which he started thrashing her.

"When Binda resisted and scolded his son-in-law, Sushil hit him with a grinding store. Binda who sustained serious injury died on the spot," he said.

The CO said that Sushil escaped from the spot after the incident.

"A case has been lodged against Shushil on the complaint of Binda's wife and efforts are being made to arrest the accused," he said.
