'Uproot Mamata Banerjee govt': Amit Shah appeals to people during his 2-day Bengal visit

Kolkata/IBNS: Sharpening his attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday urged people of the state to uproot the ruling dispensation in the next assembly elections due to be held in 2021.

"The way Mamata Didi is torturing people, specially the workers of the BJP, I am completely sure that the death knell of the government has rung. In the coming days, the BJP is going to form a government with a two-third majority," Shah told reporters in Bankura district.

Shah on Thursday once again made it clear that the BJP will fight the 2021 polls under the leadership of Modi, who had helped the saffron brigade to register an unprecedented success in West Bengal in the 2019 General Elections.

"I appeal to people of the state to uproot this government to strengthen the country's security, provide employment to youth and eradicate poverty. We are confident to make Sonar Bangla under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," the former BJP national president said.

Not mentioning any state leader's name, Shah highlighted Modi's leadership as the only alternative to Banerjee's regime at the present moment.

"I can see a public anger against the Mamata regime and hope for Narendra Modi's leadership... " he said.

Shah on Thursday once again accused Banerjee of not allowing the central schemes in the state, reminding Modi's "speed-breaker Didi" jibe last year.

"People are getting more angry because you (Mamata Banerjee) are blocking the central schemes. You might be benefited to some extent if you allow the schemes in the state," the Home Minister said.

However, the TMC government has said it would allow the Centre's health and farmers scheme in the state if the union government pays for the entire fund.

Countering Shah's attack on Banerjee, the TMC took to Twitter to call the Home Minister "anti-Bengal" with a word puzzle.

With almost five months to go for the polls, Shah came down to Bengal to hold meetings with his party workers, apparently to assess the ground reality of the state where the BJP had earned 18 Lok Sabha seats in 2019.
