UP: Student arrested for objectionable FB post against Azam Khan
Lucknow, Mar 18 (IBNS): A Class 11 student has been detained by the police in Uttar Pradesh after he allegedly posted an objectionable comment against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan on social networking site Facebook.
The Rampur police have booked the boy, a student of Woodrow School in Bareilly district, following a complaint by Azam Khan's aide Fasahat Ali Khan on Sunday.
"I informed the police that this person has posted controversial and inflammatory post in the name of Mr Khan which is a lie. It has hurt the feelings of both Hindus and Muslims and malign Mr Khan's image," the complainant was quoted as saying by NDTV.
The alleged accused has been booked under the controversial Section 66A of the Information Technology Act (for sending offensive messages through a computer), as well as other sections of the Indian Penal Code including for breach of peace.
