Lucknow: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday announced road projects worth Rs 8,000 crore for Uttar Pradesh.

Gadkari along with Union Minister of State Gen VK Singh held a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Saturday.

Minister of Public Works Department Jitin Prasada and and Minister of State Brijesh Singh were also present in the meeting.

During the meeting the Union Minister said that the roads in the state have to be made better than those in the United States before 2024.

"For this, the Modi government is going to approve five lakh crore rupees for UP in the coming days," he said.

Nitin Gadkari said, "Today, projects totaling Rs 8,000 crore are being awarded to the state. This amount has been sanctioned for projects including the Shahabad-Hardoi, Shahjahanpur to Shahabad, Moradabad-Thakur Dwara-Kashipur, and Ghazipur-Ballia bypasses, besides 13 ROBs.

The announced road projects are part of ongoing efforts to develop and build high-quality road infrastructure in UP, he said.

"This is just a trailer, the film is yet to be released. There is no shortage of money with the government for the construction of good roads," he said.
