UP: Man beaten to death in Baghpat

Baghpat: A 50-year-old was beaten to death allegedly over a petty dispute in Kotwali area in Baghpat Kotwali area here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Monday.

Police sources said that Om Kumar, a resident of Bali village, was an alcoholic. "It is being said that late on Sunday night Om Kumar consumed liquor with some people who live in his neighbourhood. During this Kumar had some dispute after which he was beaten to death," they said.

Police sources said that the police received the information on Monday morning after which the body was sent for post mortem examination.

"A case has been lodged against four persons on the complaint of the deceased's wife Shakuntala and one the accused has been detained," they said.
