UP : Akhilesh Yadav sacks two ministers over corruption charges

| | Sep 12, 2016, at 09:42 pm
Lucknow, Sept 12 (IBNS) : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday sacked his Mining Minister Gayatri Prajapati and Panchayti Raj Minister Raj Kishore Singh over allegations of corruption, reports said.

Prajapati faces several serious corruption charges, including kickbacks in mining contracts, land-grabbing and extortion.

Kishore was accused of land-grabbing.

Prajapati's removal comes days after the High Court rejected the state Government's  plea to withdraw an order for a CBI probe into alleged illegal mining in Uttar Pradesh.

The Allahabad High Court on July 28 directed the CBI to investigate the matter, including the role of Government officials, and submit a report within six weeks.
