Ghaziabad, Sept 18 (IBNS): Tension escalated in Gang Nahar in Ghaziabad on Thursday after a protest led by former Union Minister Ajit Singh and his supporters turned violent here with the police being forced to use water cannons.
The protest started earlier in the day, with agitators pelting stones at the police.

Following this, police resorted to lathicharge along with the usage of tear gas and rubber bullets.

Around 20 policemen and five Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) workers have been injured in the incident.

Ajit Singh reportedly called the agitation after the New Delhi Municipal Council ordered water and power supply cut to the government owned house allotted to him for overstaying.
