UP: 15 killed, 150 injured in Rae Bareli train accident

Rae Bareli, Mar 20 (IBNS): At least 15 people have lost their lives and 150 others were injured as three coaches of the Janta Express train 1422 derailed at Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, reports said.

The accident occurred in Bachhrawan in Raebareli.

The Janta Express train runs between Dehradoon and Varanasi.

Following the accident, the injured have been taken to nearby hospitals.

Rescue operations are currently underway.

Several relief vans are at the accident site helping with the relief and rescue efforts.

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Ramlal said state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is "upset with the incident."

He announced that Rs. two lakh rupees would be provided to the families of the dead while Rs. 50,000 would be given to the kins of those injured.

Minister of state railway Manoj Sinha informed that an inquiry has been ordered to probe the accident.
