ULFA(I) targets Hindi speaking people in Assam

Guwahati, Nov 27 (IBNS): Banned United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) has continued their strikes against Hindi speaking people in Assam with killing a trader in Lakhimpur district, while a militant of the outfit group was killed in a gun fight with security forces in Dibrugarh district on Wednesday night, officials said on Thursday.
According to reports, ULFA(I) militants killed a trader of a patrol pump in Lakhimpur town on Wednesday night.
 
ULFA(I) militants killed Kumud Rai (23 years), employee of the petrol pump.
 
During the attack, two other persons were injured.
 
The injured were identified as Rupak Singha and Satish Patel, who had rushed to the nearest hospital.
 
In separate incident, a hardcore militant of the outfit group was killed in an encounter with police in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district.
 
The encounter took place at Tingkhang area in the district.
 
“Based on intelligence input, we were informed that a group of ULFA(I) was hidden in the area. When troops reached the area, the militants started fire and bullets were exchanged, in which a militant was killed on spot,” a top police official said.
 
 Police recovered an AK series rifle, magazine in possession from slain militant, who was identified as Nitul Gogoi.
 
Other three militants of the group had managed to flee from the area with the help of darkness.
 
Top police and army officials had rushed to the area and launched operation against the militants.
 
On Nov 24, two persons were killed and 26 others injured in a grenade blast triggered by ULFA(I) militants at Rajgarh area in Dibrugarh district.
 
ULFA(I) on Thursday has took the responsibility for both the attacks in Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur
