Two suspected LeT militants killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, June 30 (IBNS) : Two suspected LeT militants have been killed in an encounter with the security forces at Newa area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday, reports said.

According to police, two bodies and two AK47 rifles  have been recovered from the encounter site at Malwari village.  

A search operation is still going on in the area.

The police said that a joint operation by the army, CRPF and SOG  was launched after a tip off about the presence of some militants.

During the operation the militants  reportedly fired upon the forces resulting in the encounter. 

Soon after the news about the encounter spread in the area, the locals took to streets and started pelting stones on police.
