Guwahati: At least two people were critically injured after bike-borne miscreants opened fire upon them in Assam’s Hailakandi district.

The incident took place at Chiparsangan near Algapur in Hailakandi district.

The injured persons were identified as 35-year-old Asuk Ahmed and 30-year-old Mostafa Ahmed.

A police official of Hailakandi district said that, when Asuk and Mostafa were returning from a cattle market on a bike, three miscreants and their faces covered with masks opened fire on them.

“The miscreants who were also on a bike, had managed to flee from the area. Our investigation is on and we have launched operation to nab the attackers,” the police official said.

The injured persons were rushed to hospital.
