Twelve of a family killed as train hits vehicle in Haryana

Hisar, Haryana, Jan 26 (IBNS) Twelve members of a family, including five women and four children, were killed when the vehicle carrying them was hit by a train at an unmanned railway crossing near Sarsod village in Hisar's Barwala subdivision on Monday.

Police said the accident took place in the morning. The victims were going to Panghal village to attend a religious function when the Dhuri-Sirsa passenger hit the vehicle.

Three other persons were injured in the incident. They were admitted to hospital

Barwala DSP Rajbir Singh said six persons, including the driver of the vehicle, were killed on the spot and as many succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital.

He said low visibility due to fog could be the the reason for the mishap.
