Turkish plane skids off runway in Kathmandu: No casualty

Kathmandu, Mar 4(IBNS) Passengers of a Turkish Airlines jet had a providential escape on Wednesday when the plane overshot the runway amid dense fog and skidded onto a grassy patch.

The Airbus A330 coming from Istanbul were carrying  238 people, including 227 passengers.

Reports said all the occupants were unhurt. They were evacuated from the emergency door.

The front wheel and the nose of the aircraft was slightly damaged after landing.

Because of bad weather the  aircraft had been circling over the airport for about half-an-hour.

Bad weather conditions and poor visibility were said to be the main reason for the incident.
