Tragedy in Saudi Arabia: Over 40 Indians feared dead as Umrah bus crashes into tanker
Over 40 Indians are feared dead after a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims collided with a diesel tanker near Medina in Saudi Arabia on Monday, media reports said.
The victims are assumed to be Indians with the majority of them from Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana.
The news has been confirmed by the Consulate General of India, Jeddah.
"In view of a tragic bus accident near Madina, Saudi Arabia, involving Indian Umrah pilgirms, a 24x7 Control Room has been set up in Consulate General of India, Jeddah," an X post by the Consulate General reads.

The accident occurred at 1 am when the group of pilgrims, who left Hyderabad on November 9, were returning to Medina after offering prayers in Mecca.
Most passengers were asleep when the collision occurred.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed "profound shock" over the incident and directed the Chief Secretary and DGP to obtain full details.
"The Chief Minister has instructed officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Saudi Embassy to be contacted regarding this incident and to immediately undertake necessary relief measures. Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has promptly spoken with Coordination Secretary Gaurav Uppal in Delhi and issued the required directives," his office posted online.
