TMC appoints ex-Lok Sabha MP Kirti Azad as Goa in-charge

| @indiablooms | May 04, 2022, at 07:52 pm

Panaji: The Trinamool Congress on Wednesday appointed former MP Kirti Azad as party in-charge of Goa.

"Under the guidance and inspiration of Hon'ble Chairperson Smt. Mamata Banerjee, the All India Trinamool Congress is pleased to appoint Shri Kirti Azad (Ex-MP, Lok Sabha) as the State in-charge of AITC Goa unit with immediate effect," a statement from the TMC said.

The party had appointed MP Mahua Moitra as Goa incharge ahead of the assembly elections held in February this year.

The TMC had contested the assembly elections in alliance with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).

While MGP won 2 seats, TMC failed to open its account.

Post assembly elections many leaders, including state president Kiran Kandolkar, have quit the party.

However, the West Bengal-based party had announced recently to bounce back by restructuring its unit in the coastal state.
