Three soldiers die in Kashmir avalanche

Srinagar, Jan 2 (IBNS): At least three soldiers were killed after an avalanche hit an army post came under an avalanche at Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said on Friday .

Top army official in Srinagar told IBNS that the army post of 21 Rajput at Sona Pandi Gali (SPG) in Machil, along the line of control, was hit by avalanche, which left three soldiers missing.

Soon after the incident, search operation was started and all the three soldiers trapped under snow were evacuated.

However, three soldiers succumbed at 92 base hospital Badamibagh, Srinagar.

Deceased soldiers were identified as Havaldar Kamlesh Kumar, Niak Balbeer and Sepor Rajinder.

Reports also said that another soldier was injured in the incident.

He was shifted to army hospital for advanced treatment.
