Patna, Jan 21 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): At least, three schoolgirls were killed and more than a 100 children fainted while they had gone to participate in the Bihar government’s much-hyped programme against deaddiction, local media reported on Saturday.

The first incident was reported from Vaishali district where a schoolgirl was run over by a speeding truck.

The girl along with others was on way to join the human chain programme when she met with the accident, reports said.

However, the local administration says the victim was killed while going to coaching.

Another incident took place in Gopalganj district.

According to reports, the victim had fainted during the formation of chain and was rushed to a local hospital but died later.

Yet another schoolgirl died in Saran district while coming under the wheels of a speeding bus. The victim identified as Anita Kumari was returning home with colleagues after the programme when bus knocked them down. While she died on the spot, her colleague sustained serious injuries.

Apart from them, more than 100 students also fainted while in queue during the hour-long event, reports said.

The Rashtriya Lok Samata Party of Uoendra Kushwaha and Jan Adhikar Party of Pappu Yadav blamed the Nitish Kumar government for deaths of schoolchildren.

“The government should have provided security to the children since they were invited to join the event,” RLSP spokesperson Seema Saxena said in a Press statement today.
