Three persons, including a woman, arrested with 25.279 kg of opium near Imphal airport

Imphal: A team of Narcotics Cell of Manipur's Impahl West apprehended three persons, including a woman, with 25.279 kg of Opium (/Kani) on Saturday.

The arrested persons were identified as Jangminlen Vaiphei (35), Mangsat Haokip (49).

Based on intelligenceinput, a team of Narcotics Cell, Imphal West  conducted frisking and checking at Tiddim road.

Around 3 am on Saturday the team had spotted a SUV bearing registration number MN-02G-1282 which was coming from Churachandpur towards Imphal.

The police team stopped the vehicle for frisking and checking near Imphal airport.

During checking the team had recovered 25.279 kg Opium (/Kani) in 26 plastic packets which were found concealed inside the vehicle.

The police team arrested three persons and seized the items and vehicle.

A case has been registered at Lamphel police station for further investigation.
