Three Maoists killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur/UNI: Three Maoists were killed in a joint operation by security forces of Telangana and Chhattisgarh in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur on Saturday, police said.

The operation was carried out by the Greyhound Force of Telangana and the Central Security Force of Chhattisgarh. An LMG and an AK-47 rifle were recovered from the slain Maoists. After today's developments, police forces have killed nearly two dozen Maoists in the last week.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Bastar region, Kamlochan Kashyap, said that an encounter broke out between joint forces in the forests of Pujari Kanker and Karriguta under the Usoor police station area of Bijapur district today.

In the encounter, a joint team of soldiers killed three Naxals and recovered LMG and AK-47 rifles from the spot.

In Narayanpur district, police busted a Maoist camp in Masfoor Tambola forest and recovered a huge cache of explosives along with communication and other Maoist material.
