Three Lashkar militants killed in Kashmir, mobile network and internet service suspended

Srinagar, Dec 8 (IBNS): Three militants, including a commander of Lashkar-e- Taiba, were killed on Thursday in a fierce gun battle with security forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

According to reports, police, army police and a special operations group of the state police and central reserve police force surrounded Arwani village late on Wednesday after receiving information about the presence of militants.

As the security forces tightened the cordon, some gunshots were heard, but after that there was no exchange of fire, till Thursday morning.  However, today [Thursday] hiding militants started firing at the surrounding security forces.

“During gunfight three Lashkar militants including a top commander were gunned down," a senior police officer told IBNS.

The slain militants have been identified as Majid, Rahil and Waseem Khalid of Kulgam area.

Meanwhile, reports suggest intense clashes erupted in many parts of South Kashmir after the killing of militants.

The authorities have suspended mobile network, Internet services in South Kashmir as a precautionary measure and to stop any rumor.
