‘There can be no better Bengal CM’: Mithun Chakraborty praises Suvendu Adhikari
Kolkata/IBNS: Veteran actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mithun Chakraborty, who actively campaigned in the 2026 Assembly elections, has described Suvendu Adhikari as the best Chief Minister West Bengal could have had.
Days after assuming office as Chief Minister, Adhikari visited Chakraborty’s residence in New Town on Saturday morning.
Mithun praises Adhikari’s governance
Addressing the media after their meeting, Chakraborty praised Adhikari’s performance during the first week of his government and expressed confidence in his leadership.
“There can be no better CM than Suvendu Adhikari. We are blessed to have him as the CM,” Chakraborty said.
“He is working right from day one and I am confident more steps will be taken in the future,” he added.
Adhikari credits Mithun for BJP’s victory
Chief Minister Adhikari thanked Chakraborty for his contribution to BJP’s historic victory in West Bengal.
“Mithun-da is one of the architects of BJP’s win in West Bengal. He has worked at the micro level, conducted the highest number of rallies and held indoor meetings to help BJP come to power,” Adhikari said.
The BJP formed the government in West Bengal after ending the Trinamool Congress’ 15-year rule in the state.
Presence at swearing-in ceremony
Chakraborty was also present at Adhikari’s swearing-in ceremony held at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground on May 9.
The event was attended by top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP’s massive win in Bengal
The BJP stormed to power in West Bengal with 207 seats, while polling for one remaining seat is scheduled for May 21.
Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) was reduced to 80 seats in the fiercely contested Assembly elections.
