Tharoor demands Sunanda's death probe to be impartial

Tharoor, who had earlier expressed his shock over Delhi police registering a murder case in connection with his wife's death,  however, said nobody in his family had any reason to believe foul play was involved in Sunanda's death.

"I have pledged full cooperation to police, along with my staff...but the inquiry should be done without any pre-determined outcome or political pressure," he told a press conference.

Tharoor said he had written to Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi on Thursday raising concern about the investigation.

Earlier, he had alleged that four police officers had beaten up his domestic help in November, last year to extract confession that he and Tharoor had murdered Sunanda.

Police  started the murder case on Tuesday following a medical report that said Sunanda died because of poisoning.

Sunanda was found dead in a hotel room last year.

Claiming that his silence was not 'sinister,' the Congress leader said he remained quiet because he didn't want to 'undermine or compromise' the police inquiry which was going on.

"I have not come here for public debate... I have lost my wife, and have not been able to mourn in peace for a year," he said.
