Terrorists have no country or religion: Mamata
Under fire from several quarters for alleged involvement in multi-crore Saradha chit-fund scam and lackadaisical attitude showed during the Burdwan blast case, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal's Trinamool Congress Government launched a counter campaign on Monday.
The party took out a massive rally in the heart of the city in which the CM was also present.
From today's rally, Mamata hit out at BJP by saying that Centre is using CBI as a political tool.
While speaking on party's alleged involvement on Saradha ponzi scam, Mamata said, "CBI is being misused by those in power in Delhi."
According to TMC supremo, Trinamool is being blamed for the fault of one or two outsiders.
"Will politically retaliate against Trinamool being dragged in Saradha scam," she added.
On Burdwan blast issue, Mamata said, "Bangladeshis are our neighbours & brothers."
She further added, "Terrorists are terrorists, they have no country or religion."
The comment came a day after Union Minister Arun Jaitley rebuked the WB Government for accusing Centre of creating explosion in Burdwan.
While addressing party meet in Kolkata's iconic Netaji Indoor Stadium on Saturday, Mamata accused BJP and it's ideological arm Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS), as the mastermind behind the Burdwan blast, that busted a terrorist module operating in the country.
Reacting strongly, Jaitley condemned the statement as "anti-national" and said that such comments will bolster the terrorists.
It is noteworthy to mention that, Saradha and Burdwan case have laid a huge negative impact on the image of TMC and it's chief Mamata Banerjee.
In the ongoing Saradha chit-fund probe, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Srinjoy Bose on Friday in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chit-fund scam case.
Bose is the second MP and third Trinamool Congress leader to be arrested in the multi-crore chit fund scam in which lakhs of people in West Bengal lost their savings.
Suspended Trinamool MP Kunal Ghosh and party vice president Rajat Majumdar were arrested earlier.
Apart from that, CBI on Friday quizzed West Bengal state textile minister Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
Another minister, Madan Mitra, skipped his questioning saying he was in hospital.
All these raised the discomfort levels of Trinamool Congress.
The opposition, especially BJP was highly critical and attacked the ruling state party accusing the latter of betraying it's own people in these two cases.
In retaliation, Mamata on Saturday said that BJP-led NDA Government is carrying out political vendetta against Trinamool Congress.
Mamata said that she and her party TMC has been BJP's target because she voiced against communal forces and attended Nehru's birth anniversary conclave organised by Congress.
