Lucknow, Oct 11 (IBNS): Joining the Vijaya Dashami celebrations here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday sent out a strong message against 'terrorism' and said it is an 'enemy of humanity'.

"This land has given us Shri Ram and Shri Krishna. Am fortunate to have come here to join the Vijaya Dashmi celebrations. This festival is about the victory of good over evil," Modi said greeting people of India on the occasion of festivity.

"Terrorism is an enemy of humanity," he said.

Modi said: "Everyone has to speak in one voice against terrorism."

He also urged people across India to end discrimination based on gender.

"Today is the International Day of the Girl Child. There is a need to end discrimination based on gender," he said.

Modi made the remarks at a time when relationship between India and Pakistan have deteriorated following the Uri attack in Kashmir last month that left 19 soldiers martyred.
