Srinagar: General Officer Commanding (GoC) Chinar Corps Lieutenant General D P Pandey on Wednesday said “terrorist activities have sharply come down and terrorism has been flattened in south Kashmir.

“Terrorist activities have sharply came down and terrorism has fallen in south Kashmir and security forces have saved the life and property of the people," Lieutenant General Pandey said to mediapersons on the sidelines of his visit to District Hospital Shopian Wednesday.

He said a few days back an accident took place during the anti militancy operation at Shopian in which some of our jawans were injured who were evacuated by the local people as the army personnel were not present there and shifted them to hospital for treatment.

Lieutenant General Pandey was all praise to the local people for their efforts for shifting the injured Army jawans to hospital.

Pertinently, an Army vehicle met with an accident last week near Kanipora during an anti-militancy operation at Shopian when they were on the way to the encounter site. All the occupants sustained critical injuries and were shifted to hospital by the local people.

However, three soldiers succumbed in the hospital.

“I am thankful to the doctors and paramedical staff that provided best health care to the injured jawans and saved their lives”, Lieutenant General Pandey said.

“I often say that to take a life is very easy but to save a life is very difficult,” he said and added, “I had come here to thank all the staff, doctors and the brave civilians of the Shopian people who played a commendable role in shifting the injured jawans to hospital.”

He said the doctors provided good health care to the injured soldiers and staff of this hospital took care of them and saved their lives.

“I had come here to thank all the staff, the civilians and the doctors who provided best healthcare facilities to the jawans who were injured in an accident and stand with them sharing shoulders with army personnel,” Lieutenant General Pandey said.

He said the security arrangements of the forthcoming Amarnath yatra have been beefed up and all precautions would be taken care of .

Lieutenant General Pandey distributed gift packs among the Doctors and Para medical Staff of the hospital for their best efforts and providing medical attention to the injured jawans and saving their lives.
