Hyderabad, Dec 4 (IBNS): Ahead of the caretaker Telangana Chief Minister  K Chandrasekhar Rao’s election rally in Kodangal, Telangana Congress leader Revanth Reddy was detained on Tuesday.

He was arrested from his residence, reports said.

The police told Hindustan Times that the arrest was necessitated with a view to preventing any untoward incident in Kodangal in the wake of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president KCR’s meeting later in the evening.

Reddy is a Congress candidate who is contesting the Telangana polls from Kodangal assembly constituency.

Reddy's wife Geetha Reddy told NDTV, "Around 3 am some people knocked on our door and broke open and forced themselves in."

"My husband and I were sleeping in the room along with our daughter. Are we terrorists that they should treat us like this?" said she.

The state polls will be held on December 7 and the results will be declared on 11th of the same month.

Though the term of the assembly was scheduled to end in May 2018, Telangana Chief Minister and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao dissolved the assembly early and went to polls.
