Tamil Nadu : Sasikala tastes victory from inside jail as protege Palaniswamy goes to form Government

Chennai, Feb 16 (IBNS) : VK Sasikala, whose dream for the post of Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister was cut short by a court order sentencing her to jail in a corruption case, scores a victory even in defeat as her protege E Palaniswami is set to form Government on Thursday following an invitation by the Governor setting off celebrations in her camp.

Governor C Vidyasagar Rao invited Palaniswamy, who had never been in the fray for the top post, to form the Government after meeting him along with 4 MLAs at the  Raj Bhavan.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held  at 4 30 pm on Thursday.

A vote of confidence to prove Palaniswamy's majority will take place in 15 days.

Around 124 MLAs, led by Palaniswamy are stated to be the members of the camp belonging to VK Sasikala, who had months of tussle with caretaker Chief Minister O Paneerselvam for the post of Chief Minister before being convicted and jailed.

Tamil Nadu will get its third Chief Minister in two months as Palaniswami virtually makes a windfall gain that emerged out of the prolonged conflict between the two camps of the ruling AIADMK and the unexpected turns and twists of events.

After Sasikala was sentenced to jail, Palaniswamy,57, was elected Leaders of the Legislature party of the AIADMK.

Acting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam had also met the Governor, but he does not have numbers on his side.

According to media reports, the  Governor was of the view that the whole world knew that Palaniswamy had the numbers on his side.
