Tamil Nadu: Police arrest 3 Lankan nationals for unlawful entry

Nagapattinam, Jul 1 (UNI) Police have arrested three Sri Lankan nationals and confiscated a Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) boat for unlawfully entering into the Indian territorial waters at Vedaranyam coast in this Tamil Nadu district, sources said here on Monday.

According to police, the trio was identified as AR Nigas (23), M Mohammed Rajees (33) and V Vaseegaran (20). They were detained by the Coastal Security Group of Tamil Nadu Marine Police on Sunday, during a patrol along the shores.

On verification, Marine police found that the Sri Lankan nationals had entered clandestinely into Indian waters. They were later handed over to local police for interrogation.
